Simulation on air temperature and particle distribution under natural make-up air in indoor environment with a Chinese-style residential kitchen

Kitchen is an important place in Chinese residential building. However, unfavourable thermal environment and unsatisfied air quality occur during cooking. Studies on kitchen are experimentally investigated with enough make-up airflow. But mostly normal kitchens merely installed a exhaust hood have not supply system. This work carried out numerical simulation to investigate indoor under natural make-ups. Air inflow window fully open, insufficient from crack well-controlled constant volume opening included. Results show that there was uniform temperature distribution occupant’s working zone open condition. Vertical differences were 4.0 °C make-up. In breathing zone, difference 6.0 4.7 uncontrolled airflow, respectively. Mean particle concentration could be largely reduced controlled well-organized kitchen.
